one outfit, two versions

H&M cardigan, jovovich-hawk for target dress, thrifted wool pullover, target thigh highs, vintage riding boots, vintage capezio bookbag

Okay so, here are two slightly different versions of the same outfit. In truth, I really just wanted an excuse to try my gray thigh highs with these boots! I ended up going with my original outfit on the left. I really wish I had my pink cardigan on hand to add some more color but unfortunately I left it at the BF's. Ahh well. It's his birthday this Monday so we're celebrating this weekend. Fun, fun! Then again, that means it's May which in turn means finals are coming up. I've promised myself that I won't let myself go this time around and will definitely keep up with posting. I PROMISE YOU, INTERWEBS, THAT I'LL POST FROM THE LIBRARY IF I HAVE TO.

If you guys haven't seen it yet, check out my friends' shoe porn tumblr, SHOELUST! I'm technically a contributor as well but since I can't keep up I just stick around for moral support. Or something like that.

(And because my face in the above two pictures is too serious, here's a more accurate depiction of my face and unbrushed hair ^__^)

simple, as always

thrifted linen shirt, BDG cigarette jeans, vintage riding boots

Yet another casual look featuring at least one oversized item of clothing. This shirt is actually NOT the same as the oxford shirt I wore two posts back and is much lighter since it is made out of linen. It is also less oversized so I opted for leaving the buttons closed rather than open like the last time. Simple and easy, right? I've also been living in these boots which I found this past weekend at a cute little vintage store/hair salon on Telegraph, Down At Lulu's. I was really excited when I found them since I tend to have really bad luck when it comes to finding knee high vintage boots but score way more with shorter booties. I can't wait to wear them with cute dresses in the summer!

Oh and, I also listed a few things on my Chictopia for sale. I only have blazers/jackets up for now but expect a few more things in the coming days! I really need to clean out my closet.

(If any of you were wondering if I had a forehead, here it is. Excuse the eyebrows, they never see the light!)

change of space

thrifted =tunic top, black milk skinnies, h&m wedges

My usual spot in the dining room is currently being used by my roommate and friend to study for their midterm so I have to improvise. In case you can't tell, I'm wearing an oversized (big surprise) top with rolled up sleeves, the same wax coated skinnies from the last post, and my trusty wedges. I haven't done much today other than clean and go nuts over my roommate's friend's puppy, Teddy. If pictures of cute things are enough to send me over the edge... well, I'm sure you can guess what this little guy did to me. I DIE!

(BF said we can get a puppy one day... and name him PIKA. AWWWWWWW.)

kinda there, but not really

thrifted oxford shirt, black milk skinnies, prada lace up booties

Perhaps this was the wrong time to start a blog since I have already fallen behind with posting. I'm sorry but it's really hard to come up with outfits when it's a whopping 90 degrees and you're used to 60-70 degree weather! I was literally living in a tank top and shorts for a few days. I've also been sleeping for once and well... I'll stop there. Today's outfit is not very interesting but for the sake of the survival of this blog, I'll post it. The top is a men's oxford shirt with a nice oversized fit over a loose silkblend tank top paired with wax coated skinnies tucked into my lace up booties. Easy and simple does the job, right?

(Yes, I am aware that I am showing a bit much in the picture below. Ahh well, enjoy?)

somewhere between waking and sleeping

thrifted floral dress, thrifted waffle knit cardigan, h&m t-strap heels, vintage wicker purse with a gold chain

I have not slept in 36 hours. I couldn't even mumble coherent sentences in class today. TGIF FOR REAL. In a bit I'm leaving for what seems to be a promising weekend in San Francisco (since the BF has it off for once!) hanging out with friends at Dolores Park Saturday afternoon and then wandering aimlessly around the city. Oh and studying for a Latin midterm. Fun, fun. But seriously, I can't wait to take a break this weekend. ^__^

(That is, if I can stay conscious enough to not fall asleep on the BART and miss my stop. I need a coffee.)

schoolgirl revisted

vintage peter pan collared shirt, thrifted uniform skirt, f21 pocket cardigan, target thigh high socks, vintage etienne aigner oxfords

I know I've post outfits similar to this on my Chictopia but I couldn't help attempting it again with the vintage girl's uniform shirt that I just acquired. I've been looking for a top with a peter pan collar for ages! Nevertheless, is it ironic that, after 10+ years of wearing uniforms in Catholic schools, I've reverted back to a style which I abhorred for so many years? My least favorite part was being told to tuck in my shirt and recieving detention from everyone's favorite nun upon "forgetting" to adhere to the rules every once in a while. I tend to miss uniforms sometimes when I'm tired of my wardrobe (which is 75% of the time). I only really had to worry about outfits on the weekends or free dress days since I had to wear the same uniform combination five times a week! Oh well, I'm still glad that's over.

(End nostalgic rant. High school was great but college is a million times better, in my honest opinion!)

double the fun

on me: vintage shift dress, h&m wedges, his gap cardigan. on him: j. lindeberg shirt via oaknyc, april77 jeans, converse shoes

I wasn't feeling particularly photogenic but he was so I went along with it for the sake of the blog, haha. Well everyone, this is Brent. He likes DotA, cooking delicious dinners for me, and shopping just as much as I do (or maybe more). We like to sing the Pokemon theme song together and end our sentences with "PIKA". We didn't do much when these were taken other than drink mojitos and eat the delicious beef and broccoli dinner that he cooked for us.

(And I finally got my crackberry so I have no excuse for missing emails, oops! I'll reply to everyone by the end of today, I promise!)

easter sunday best

anthropologie dress, h&m wedges

Happy Easter everyone! I don't really have much planned for today other than schoolwork and recovering from the weekend but I dressed up and did my hair anyway. I bought this dress freshman year and can't figure out why I've only worn it twice since it's so pretty! I am kind of regretting putting this on right now since I'm cooped up inside instead of enjoying the sunlight that has finally come out. I guess the day won't be wasted since BF and I are getting pho in San Francisco once he gets out of work. Speaking of BF, I tried to get him to let me take a picture of his outfit yesterday but he wouldn't let me! Ugh, so mean. I can't complain at the moment since he's buying me pho, hehe.

(I guess my pouty faces aren't enough to convince him but maybe you guys can!)

dreaming of you

via oak nyc

I'm pretty sure I had a dream last night starring this bag. The details are fuzzy but I know there was some weird worshiping going on at some point. Umm, I guess wine does that to you? But seriously, I really would like my next splurge to be a functional every day bag of some sort but I doubt I can justify the price tag on this one. The latest MBMJ Dr. Q Groovee, on the other hand, seems more realistic for my college budget. I'm glad they went back to the pebbled leather and got rid of the weird straps harnessing the bag. I'm thinking June so I can properly celebrate the end of this annoying semester.

(REMINDER TO SELF: WINE AND ALLERGY MEDICATION ON AN EMPTY STOMACH DO NOT MIX WELL)

we are the sleepyheads

boyfriend's gap cardigan sweater, thrifted floral dress, prada lace up booties

I've worn this cardigan every day since I nabbed it from my boyfriend's closet on Tuesday. It's perfect for that "don't mind me, I just rolled out of bed" look I've adopted these past few weeks as school gets more stressful and demanding. I'm not even joking when I say that it takes me thirty minutes to get ready now since I sleep in so much. Sleeping > fashion, imho.

(this is probably not the best way to start a fashion blog, is it...?)

here's to new beginnings and the like

How many times have I said I would attempt this? Too many to count. This is probably my third attempt at updating a blog which I've had for at least a year but never managed to actually promote or keep up with. Let's hope that the third time's a charm, right??

Most of you have probably seen my Chictopia or Tumblr and are already pretty familiar with my style and personality (to some extent). For those of you who are new, hello there, my name is Annabel and I am currently a third year comparative literature major at UC Berkeley. I am probably the most awkward person you will ever encounter IRL. I spend way too much time on the internet and would rather waste my money on food than clothing. I am always willing to help anyone who has a question so don't be afraid to shoot me an email! Thank you, and I look forward to interacting with y'all here on Blogspot. ^__^
